Cal State Fullerton last fielded a collegiate football team in 1992 and yet, a former Titans athlete signed an NFL contract today.Andre Hardy, who played forward in basketball the past two years at Fullerton, was inked by the Raiders, presumably as a project to push the three tight ends already on the Raiders roster in Brandon Myers, David Ausberry and Richard Gordon.McKenzie said as much recently about the position, talking about a desire to add depth at tight end.And while the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Hardy played his first two years of college ball at Oral Roberts, he does have football in his blood. His father, Andre, was a fifth-round draft pick of Philadelphia in 1984 out of St. Mary's and played running back in the NFL for parts of three seasons for the Eagles, Seattle and one game as a replacement player for the 49ers during the 1987 strike.The younger Hardy, 25, and the Big West's newcomer of the year as a junior at Fullerton after averaging 10.6 points and 8.5 rebounds, prepped at San Diego's St. Augustine High School. He also worked out for the 49ers and has reportedly run the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.
