The Raiders were set to host this year’s NFL Draft in Las Vegas, using that grand stage to introduce their new market to the league. They were going to throw a huge party along the Las Vegas Strip, with Allegiant Stadium not far off in the distance.
The event, expected to draw hundreds of thousands to Las Vegas, was appropriately canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Raiders and Las Vegas won’t have to wait long to get the draft back. The league announced Thursday that the NFL Draft will return to the city in 2022, some expected news made official during this year’s unique virtual draft.

The league was already committed to Cleveland next year and Kansas City in 2023. Fitting Las Vegas into the 2022 slot is the right thing to do and an easy decision to showcase one of the United States’ entertainment hubs.
