Raiders-Colts injury report: Karl Joseph healthy ahead of potential showcase

ALAMEDA – Raiders safety Karl Joseph hurt his hamstring early in a Week 3 loss to Miami, and hasn’t played since. He missed three straight games, despite the team’s efforts to get him active for a Week 6 loss to Seattle.

Joseph is finally healthy again coming off a bye week and was a full participant in Thursday’s Raiders practice, the same status he held when the practice week started the day before.

“He got hurt in the Miami game, so he was on the mend for a couple weeks,” defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said. “Hopefully he can get out there this week and show what he can do, because he is progressing.”

Joseph was buried on the depth chart before getting hurt, acting as the fourth safety behind Marcus Gilchrist, Reggie Nelson and Erik Harris. Coaches had discussed some struggles handling the mental rigors of the position, though progress has been made in that regard.

Multiple reports have stated the Raiders are shopping Joseph heading toward Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. If he’s healthy and able to showcase some talent, that may increase the interest in the 2016 first-round pick from West Virginia. Him being healthy and ready to play is required, considering no team would take a shot on an injured player.

Left guard Kelechi Osemele continues to miss practice with a knee sprain that still isn’t right. It’s likely he missed another game Sunday against Indianapolis.

Colts running back Marlon Mack was limited Wednesday but didn’t work Thursday with an ankle injury. Losing him to injury would be a blow to the Colts offense.

Former Raiders defensive lineman Denico Autry was a full participant despite an ankle issue, and should be ready to face his former team. The same can’t be said for 2016 second-round Raiders pick Jihad Ward, who missed his second straight practice after being carted off last week with an ankle injury.
