Well, all the smoke turned into the 49ers crushing Carolina 51-13 on Sunday at Levi's Stadium as San Francisco improved to 7-0 on the season.
Apparently, Panthers defensive end Bruce Irvin, a longtime 49ers rival during his Seahawks days, wasn't too impressed, though.
"They're not world-beaters." Aside from the fact that quote still sounds incredibly strange, let's look at some facts.
The 49ers are the last unbeaten team in the NFC, and they whipped the Panthers in every facet of Sunday's game.

On offense, the 49ers outgained the Panthers by 158 yards. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo finished with just four incompletions and tossed two touchdown passes. Three different 49ers rushed for touchdowns, and running back Tevin Coleman crossed the goal line four times -- three times rushing and once receiving.

San Francisco's stifling defense picked off QB Kyle Allen's passes three times and sacked him seven times. It was a beatdown in every sense of the word.
