Carson Wentz's sore ribs are a little more than sore.
The rookie actually suffered a hairline fracture during Thursday's game against the Bucs, the Eagles announced on Saturday afternoon. Wentz was a limited practice participant in the morning; the fracture was found later.
“Carson felt some discomfort and soreness as we began this morning’s practice," head coach Doug Pederson said in a statement released by the team. "We decided to limit him throughout the remainder of practice and, as a precaution, sent him for a CT scan after practice. The scan revealed a hairline fracture in his ribs. We do not know an exact timetable for his return, but we hope to have him back before the end of the preseason.”

Pederson originally called the injury "sore ribs" and said Wentz would be able to play on Thursday night against the Steelers in Pittsburgh, but now the team just hopes he won't miss the rest of the preseason. After the Pittsburgh game, the Eagles have two more preseason games, one in Indy and one at home against the Jets.
