NFL commissioner Roger Goodell expressed optimism Tuesday about the future of labor negotiations between the owners and the NFLPA.

Following a negotiating session in Chicago at the Westin O'Hare hotel, Goodell spoke at a press conference and said that "we have a very strong view of the priorities, a very strong view of what we need to continue in the negotiations and a determination to get there."
Goodell emphasized that it was "a tremendous positive that the principals are talking."

Several reports indicate that NFL owners have been briefed on discussions for a new collective bargaining agreement that would net the players just under 50 percent of total revenues

Goodell said there is a lot of work to do, and that the issues needing resolution are "very complex."
Previously published reports indicated that Goodell has presented to the owners at least nine proposals that could be a part of a new collective bargaining agreement.
No vote took place Tuesday.
