The 49ers officially were eliminated from playoff contention Sunday, so it's time to look ahead to 2019, when Jimmy Garoppolo should have a fully functioning knee and a possible No. 1 overall draft pick will be poised to make an impact.
The NFL's schedule rotation means we already know all but two of the 49ers' 2019 opponents, with the NFC South and AFC North going into San Francisco's plans this time. As of now, many of the foes would be familiar, with the Lions, Giants and Buccaneers on the schedule, but changing records between now and Dec. 30 also could alter the possibilities.
So think ahead to Jimmy G's return under center and the opponents that 49ers fans hope he'll vanquish in 2019. The NFL typically announces exact dates for each game during draft week in April.
