NFL rumors: 49ers sign cornerback Teez Tabor to their practice squad

There's nothing wrong with depth on an NFL roster, even if it is just the practice squad. The 49ers reportedly did just that on Monday with their defensive backs.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the 49ers signed cornerback Teez Tabor to their practice squad. Tabor, still just 23 years old, was a second-round pick by the Lions in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Tabor was released by the Lions in August. Since being the No. 53 overall pick two years ago, he only has appeared in 22 games, starting just five.

The University of Florida product has yet to record an interception in the NFL. He has 39 total tackles.

The move comes one week after it was announced 49ers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon would miss at least one month with a foot sprain. Emmanuel Moseley is in line to start at cornerback in place of the injured Witherspoon.

With the 49ers welcoming the Browns to Levi's Stadium this week for "Monday Night Football," San Francisco's defensive backs could use as much help as possible to slow down Cleveland's high-powered offense.
