Mike Mayock, Raiders examining turf prior to Canada game vs. Packers

Playing in Canada is all fun and games until the turf isn't up to snuff, right?

The Raiders and Packers are in Winnipeg on Thursday night for their third preseason game. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has said the Raiders were going to look at the turf at IG Stadium in Winnipeg before determining whether or not their starters were going to play.

Both teams arrived in Canada on Wednesday and a crowd of people -- including Raiders general manager Mike Mayock -- were seen scoping out the turf prior to kickoff. The point of interest appears to be the spot where the goal post for the Canadian Football League normally would be placed.

There's a good chance we've seen the last of the Raiders starters until the Silver and Black open up the season Week 1 against the Denver Broncos.

After already losing right tackle Gabe Jackson for the first part of the regular season, Gruden and Co. won't want to risk a key player's health just to put on a show for the Canadian crowd.

While the starters might not see the field in Winnipeg, there still will be some key moments for players attempting to cement their spot on the latest iteration of the Silver and Black.
