McFadden feels for Ford and his Lisfranc injury

ALAMEDA -- Darren McFadden has a unique perspective on what Jacoby Ford has endured.McFadden missed the final nine games of last season with a Lisfranc sprain of his right foot and Ford underwent surgery Tuesday in North Carolina to repair a Lisfranc injury to his left foot. It was a recurrence of the same injury, it was revealed Wednesday by coach Dennis Allen, Ford had last year when he missed six of the Raiders' final seven games.The Raiders had never confirmed Ford had a Lisfranc injury last year."Yeah, very sympathetic about it," McFadden said. "It's a hard injury to come back from. It's just a good thing that he was able to go out there and catch it early so he could be able to get it corrected and try to work on getting back."McFadden never had surgery on his foot, rather, he rehabbed it and was a full go by the time offseason activities began and has shown no ill effects since.
Allen, meanwhile, said there is no timetable on a return by Ford, who injured it the first time last Nov. 10 at San Diego and hurt it again Aug. 17 at Arizona."Hes obviously out for a pretty good period of time," Allen said, adding that he was not sure if the Raiders would place Ford on the newly-created short-term Injured Reserve list."We talked to the doctors, I believe it was this morning, right before we got out on the practice field," Allen said. "So we havent had a chance to get back in there and kind of discuss it a little bit. But well probably have a decision made pretty soon on him."Its the Lisfranc that he had last year. Its the same exact injury. They expected it to get better, and it didnt get better, or at least it wasnt good enough for him to do that job that hes going to have to do. We all felt like surgery was the best option."
