SANTA CLARA -- Mario Manningham, who has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury and did not travel to New England, took part in limited practice on Wednesday. His status for Sunday's game is questionable.
Defensive tackle Justin Smith, who has not missed a game since the opening week of his rookie season of 2001, did not participate at all Wednesday due to a left elbow injury.
Smith played only a handful of snaps in the second half Sunday night against the New England Patriots and was unable to return to action. Coach Jim Harbaugh has been vague this week when asked about Smith's condition.

Smith absence in the second half of the 49ers' 41-34 victory over the Patriots was alarming because of his history of durability. Even with his left elbow wrapped, Smith was unable to get back onto the field while the Patriots went on a 28-point run in the second half.
Harbaugh said that Smith will play Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks "if it's humanly possible." When asked if it's humanly possible that Smith could play, Harbaugh responded, "We'll see how he feels today and tomorrow."
Smith was unable to practice on Wednesday, as he was on the practice field and only watched team drills.
For the Seahawks, veteran third cornerback Marcus Trufant has been inactive for the past three games due to a hamstring injury. Trufant did not practice Wednesday. Seattle will also be without starting cornerback Brandon Browner, who will serve the third game of a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
