The Chiefs released Johnson in Nov. 2009, following a stretch in which Johnson used a gay slur on Twitter and toward reporters. He was also arrested four times as a player for assault charges against women during his time in Kansas City.
Johnson signed with the Bengals later that month, but became a free agent after the season. The prospect of an ex-rival with a homophobic, violent history off of the field upset some Raiders fans at the time.

Still, Pro Football Talk reported in 2010 that Johnson was set to visit the Raiders on March 14, but he ultimately signed with Washington two days prior to his scheduled visit. He rushed for two yards on five carries, and was released after just two games.
Johnson rushed for two yards on a single carry for the Miami Dolphins the following year, and was twice released by the team. He never played in the NFL again.
