HOUSTON – The NFL’s committee on Los Angeles opportunities met for several hours on Monday night, reviewing information from the three teams and two stadium proposals looking to take root in Southern California.
The six-man collection loaded with powerful owners wasn’t required to make a recommendation to the membership declaring the St. Louis Rams’ Inglewood proposal or a Carson project promoted by the San Diego Chargers and Raiders, but planned to exercise that option.

CSN California confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the committee recommended the Carson project. Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole broke that story earlier in the day. The $1.7-billion Carson project slated to house the Raiders and Chargers has more support among NFL ownership, but that recommendation won't necessarily push Carson on to victory.

There are some powerful owners, Dallas’ Jerry Jones among them, staunchly in favor of the Inglewood project, which promises to be an entertainment hub.
The NFL met on Tuesday morning at the Westin Memorial City, with presentations from Disney CEO Bob Iger on Carson and Kroenke’s pitch on Inglewood. The L.A. committee recommended the Carson project after that. The session broke for lunch, and an afternoon session commenced with discussion from ownership.

There is no set schedule throughout Tuesday. An NFL spokesman said it was possible a vote could come later in the day, and that now seems probable though not completely certain.
The Carson recommendation could bolster the Raiders-Chargers partnership there. League sources confirmed earlier that buzz surrounding Jones’ suggestion to pair the Chargers and Rams in Inglewood is a realistic possibility.
The Raiders would get a financial consolation prize if that was the case. Raiders owner Mark Davis and Chargers owner Dean Spanos remained unified, and Spanos could insist on what a source said could be a “significant sum” to help build a stadium in Oakland or another market if the Raiders are left out of Los Angeles.
This is an ongoing situation, and news will continue to break throughout the day. Check back for updated information as it becomes available.
