SANTA CLARA -- Left tackle Joe Staley and tight end Garrett Celek were on the 49ers team that defeated the Seattle Seahawks in December 2013.
Prior to Sunday, that was the last time the 49ers had tasted victory against the NFC West opponent. The teams barely can be considered rivals, because the head-to-head matchups had grown so one-sided.
Staley and Celek were asked what they remembered about that day -- a 19-17 victory at Candlestick Park five seasons ago.

“I remember nothing about it,” Staley said.
“Oh, man, I don’t even ... that was too many years ago,” said Celek, who contributed to the streak-buster Sunday with a 41-yard touchdown catch on a Nick Mullens pass in the second quarter.
The 49ers snapped their 10-game losing streak to Seattle with a 26-23 overtime win at Levi’s Stadium, as Robbie Gould kicked a 36-yard field goal with 3:06 remaining in the extra period. The 49ers rebounded to beat the Seahawks just two weeks after a 43-16 loss in Seattle.
Even for the individuals who haven't been with the 49ers through all the losing, the victory came as a relief. Coach Kyle Shanahan wanted to put the end to questions about the ongoing streak.

“I just knew it meant a lot to our guys, especially after two weeks (ago) and to the fans and everything since 2013,” Shanahan said. “I hated having to answer those questions all week. I definitely didn’t want to go a whole another year doing it. This was our last opportunity to end that, and I’m glad we don’t have to hear that again.”

Staley, the longest-tenured 49ers player at 12 seasons, wasn't talking about streaks or anything. He said he always has an appetitie to win against an organization for which he has built a lot of animosity through the years.
“I just don’t like them,” Staley said. “I don’t like Seattle.
“I don’t think there was a rallying cry. We knew we had to get fired up for this game -- just fired up to play against them. This locker room is always going to continue to play hard, no matter what the circumstances are.”
