Khalil Mack sends farewell tweet to Raider Nation

Most people expected Khalil Mack to be a Raider for a long time, if not for the rest of his career.

But the strained relationship came to an end on Saturday when the Raiders stunned the football world by trading the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year to the Chicago Bears for a package of draft picks highlighted by two first-round selections.

Things move quickly with the season a week away. The trade happened, Mack went to Chicago, agreed to and signed a record-setting contract and then was introduced by the Bears on Sunday. He never had time to properly say goodbye to his Raiders teammates or the fans.

With the dust settled (sort of), Mack took to Twitter Sunday evening to offer some words to an aching Raider Nation:

"Raider Nation the love you’ve shown my family and I for the past 4 years has been amazing we loved every minute of it! Unfortunately it has come to an end but I will cherish my time in Oakland forever and will forever have love for the Nation!" Mack wrote at 6:30pm PT.
