General manager Trent Baalke will serve as the voice of the 49ers this week during the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.
For the first time since NFL head coaches and general managers have been made available to the media at the combine, the 49ers’ head coach will not take part in the interview session.

The NFL announced 47 coaches and executives who will take part in the interviews on Wednesday and Thursday, and new 49ers coach Chip Kelly was not included on the list. Kelly spoke at the NFL combine in 2013 as the Philadelphia Eagles' first-year coach. He did not take part in the interviews the past two years.
Kelly is the only first-year coach of a new team that will not have a session in front of the media. He is one of just nine NFL coaches who will not be made available to answers questions.
Baalke will represent the 49ers on Wednesday morning. Baalke is scheduled to speak following Raiders coach Jack Del Rio, Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter and Super Bowl-winning coach Gary Kubiak of the Denver Broncos.
The other coaches who are not scheduled to speak at the combine are Bill Belichick, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Andy Reid, Sean Payton, Marvin Lewis, Jim Caldwell and Mike McCoy. Reid is not attending the combine due to knee-replacement surgery, the Kansas City Chiefs announced.
