The career of talented wide receiver Josh Gordon sadly went on hold again Monday. The Seattle Seahawks wideout has been suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse.
Gordon, 28, now has been suspended five times throughout his six-year NFL career. He missed the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

The Seahawks claimed Gordon off waivers from the New England Patriots on Nov. 1. His first game with Seattle was against the 49ers at Levi's Stadium on Nov. 11. He caught two passes for 27 yards, though, they came in big moments.
Gordon's two receptions against the 49ers both came on third down and became first downs for Seattle. His first catch was late in the fourth quarter while his second came in overtime.
The Seahawks beat the 49ers 27-24 on a last-second field goal in overtime.
But Gordon will not be on the field when the two NFC West rivals face in Seattle in the regular-season finale. His absence could be a big loss, too.

Gordon only has seven receptions for 139 yards and no touchdowns in five games for the Seahawks. However, Week 17 likely will determine the NFC West and top seed in the playoffs for the NFC. Either team losing a weapon certainly could be costly.
The 49ers now will focus on slowing down quarterback Russell Wilson in the passing game on Dec. 29, as well as receivers Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf.
