Jaquiski Tartt out, Reuben Foster questionable to return for 49ers

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- 49ers safety Jaquiski Tartt was ruled out from returning to Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals because of a shoulder injury.

Tartt wasn't the only 49ers defensive player to leave the game, as linebacker Reuben Foster exited late in the first half with a hamstring injury. The 49ers announced Foster was questionable to return, but he was not on the field as the team opened the second half.

Tartt has struggled with a shoulder injury for much of the season. The safety was inactive for two games earlier in the season. He injured his shoulder late in the second quarter of this game.

Tartt was responsible for a big defensive play, intercepting a Josh Rosen pass that led to a Robbie Gould filed goal, giving the 49ers a 5-3 lead. That was the first 49ers takeaway since Week 4. He was disappointed with himself after missing an interception that he dropped against the Rams.

Antone Exum Jr. took over at strong safety for Tartt.

Foster has struggled this season after missing the first two games because of a suspension, and he has dealt with a shoulder injury through most of the year. Foster was seen on the sideline later in the second half Sunday, and Elijah Lee took his place on the field.
