SANTA CLARA – Cornerback Keith Reaser, a candidate to start Sunday for the 49ers against the Atlanta Falcons, was an excused absence from practice Wednesday due to a family matter.
Reaser is also nursing an ankle sprain that he sustained in the 49ers’ game Sunday. Reaser and Donte Johnson are most likely to step into a starting role if Kenneth Acker does not receive clearance to return from a concussion.
Acker sat out practice Wednesday as he goes through the NFL’s concussion protocol. Tight end Garrett Celek is also in the concussion protocol.

Running backs Carlos Hyde and Mike Davis did not practice. Hyde is not expected to play Sunday due to a stress fracture in his left foot. Davis underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured left hand.
Wide receiver Anquan Boldin did not practice due to a hamstring injury. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman (shoulder) has not practiced on a Wednesday this season.
