Inactives: Raiders won't have Amerson, James vs Giants

OAKLAND -- Raiders cornerback David Amerson practiced each day this week, albiet on a limited basis. That in itself was progress made by the team's best cover man, after he was shelved more than a month with a foot injury.

Amerson said he felt as healthy as he had since the injury. He was considered questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, but won't play in it.

He was among the Raiders inactives announced before kickoff, meaning Sean Smith, TJ Carrie and Dexter McDonald will continue as the team's primary cornerbacks. Obi Melifonwu is in that mix as well.

The Raiders received more bad news on the health front. Starting weakside linebacker Cory James won't play the Giants, either. He was considered questionable with a knee injury.

Amari Cooper was ruled out earlier in the week, and Michael Crabtree is suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct.

In addition, quarterback Connor Cook, offensive tackle Jylan Ware, defensive tackle Jihad Ward and edge rusher Shilique Calhoun are inactive.
