
The summer of soccer is underway.
The Premier League kicks off for the first time in three months Wednesday, Italy's Serie A will do the same Friday. Germany's Bundesliga was one of the first leagues to return from a coronavirus-caused suspension behind closed doors, and Spain's La Liga restarted last week. The NWSL's Challenge Cup starts later this month at a pair of venues in Utah, while the Earthquakes and the rest of MLS are set to descend upon Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports just outside of Orlando for the efficiently named "MLS Is Back Tournament" in early July.
Yes, the beautiful game will be back in a big way while the Bay Area's other professional sports teams are in their offseasons (Warriors, 49ers and Sharks) or waiting to return to play (Giants and A's).
