SANTA CLARA – There was no hiding the 49ers' frustration on Sunday during their blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals. And some of the more outward signs came from their group of veteran captains.
“Very frustrated,” 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin said. “I think we all were. We came out and had a great week of practice last week. We felt like we had a good game plan, felt prepared. And to go out and play the way we did was totally unacceptable.”
Boldin said his frustration after catching two passes for 16 yards in the 49ers’ 47-7 loss was not directed at quarterback Colin Kaepernick -- though Boldin appeared to be open on the first-quarter plays that resulted in interception returns for touchdowns.

“My frustration was with us as a team,” Boldin said. “We didn’t play the way we’re capable of playing. We didn’t execute well. We just didn’t look like ourselves. For me, that’s where the frustration comes in. You work your butt off in practice all week and to go out and lay an egg, basically. I don’t think anybody was satisfied with their performance.”
Boldin said there is only one way for the 49ers to get out of their two-game skid, which saw them beaten by a combined 65 points.
“Just continue to work,” Boldin said. “There’ve been times in my career when I felt like, as a team, we weren’t doing what we’re supposed to. But I think the only way you can correct that is to go out and work. Nothing else fixes it. You have to go out and work your butt off. When you play that way, it’ll change itself.”

With a new head coach and two new coordinators, this figures to be a critical time for the team’s coaching staff to provide the answers for a team that has failed to be competitive the past two games. Now, the unbeaten Green Bay Packers come to town as nine-point favorites. The 49ers have not been home underdogs of seven or more points since 2007.
But Boldin said the 49ers have to take responsibility and not lean on the coaching the staff to steer the team out of its funk.
“They don’t play,” Boldin said. “It’s up to the players to change that. The only thing they (the coaches) do is call plays, call defenses. It’s up to the players to go out and execute.”
