Pat Flaherty, the 49ers’ offensive line coach under Chip Kelly, was hired Saturday to Doug Marrone’s staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

CEO Jed York has given all of the 49ers’ coaches and scouts permission to seek employment with organizations during the team’s search for a new coach and general manager. York said the new coach and GM will have the power to assemble their own staffs.

Before joining Kelly’s staff, Flaherty, 60, coached the New York Giants’ offensive line for 13 seasons under Tom Coughlin. The Giants won Super Bowl titles following the 2007 and 2011 seasons.

The Jaguars announced this week Coughlin was returning to the organization as executive vice president of football operations.

“Pat Flaherty not only has 17 years of NFL coaching experience, he also has helped several offensive linemen become Pro Bowl players in their careers, such as Chris Snee, Shaun O’Hara and David Diehl,” Coughlin said in a statement. “His work with the Giants’ offensive line helped that team win two Super Bowls. His credentials are impeccable and his vast knowledge and teaching ability will be a great benefit for our offensive linemen.”

The 49ers surrendered 47 sacks this season, ranking 30th in the league. The team ranked fourth in rushing, averaging 126.2 yards per game.
