The 49ers shipped longtime tight end Vernon Davis to the Broncos on Monday. On Tuesday, made the rounds in Denver and conducted the following interview at team headquarters.
What have the last couple days been like?
It's been like a tornado. It's been pretty overwhelming. Just waking up in the morning and getting the call that you're about to get traded after 10 years in San Francisco, you can imagine that it would be a little strenuous, a little tough on you. But when one door closes, a new door opens. And that's what it's all about. It's all about change, and I embrace it. I accept it. And I feel like I'm in a wonderful place and I look forward to playing games and helping these guys win games.
Have you thought about what it will be like playing with Peyton Manning?
I'm very familiar with Peyton Manning -- followed him, always been a big fan. But I've never been around a quarterback like Peyton. Not knocking the quarterbacks I've had in previous years -- Kaepernick, Alex Smith -- but Peyton, I've always looked at him as one of the best that's ever played, and I've never been around that.

Have you thought about coming to a 7-0 team that's a legitimate Super Bowl contender?
I know what it feels like to win and to be on a team that has that winning spirit. Not too long ago we were able to win some games, and I still feel that, I can feel it a little bit. I just have to get acclimated to it again because it seems like it's been so long. But I can imagine that it's intense, it's exciting, everyone is playing together as one, and there's a lot of love.
How do you feel physically?
Physically I feel pretty good. I had a minor setback with my knee like three weeks ago, but it was minor. I always tell myself, as long as I can get out there and run full speed, I'm ready to go.
How do you feel about facing your brother for the first time?
It's very, very exciting. It's good to line up against my brother. But I have to remember why I'm playing this game. It's not about playing against my brother, it's about winning games one play at a time. And that's what they brought me here to do -- to help them win games one at a time. And that's what it's all about and that's my main focus -- winning games.
