Despite limited action since joining the Broncos, tight end Vernon Davis finds himself back in the Bay Area for the first nine and a half seasons of his NFL career.
Naturally, his midseason trade from the 49ers has been a topic of conversation all week.
That didn't change on Wednesday, when the 10-year veteran was asked during a media session if the trade was working out well for him.

"The trade did. Like I said, whenever you are in a situation where things don’t seem to be going your way and it seems like you are off course, you have to reach deep down inside and remember that everything works out for the good. In this case, it worked out for me. I am sitting here. I knew before I got here that it would be a special season," Davis said.

Davis was asked about his relationship with former 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula.
"Tomsula was good. I never really had any problems out of Tomsula. He has always been good to me. He has always been a good man," Davis said.

Was he disappointed Tomsula was fired after one season?
"Everything happens for a reason. I can’t be disappointed. I can only feel for him because ultimately when you meet a good guy like Tomsula you want him to remain in his position. Unfortunately it doesn’t always go that way," Davis said.
After playing a season and a half in Levi's Stadium, how does it feel to return for the Super Bowl?
"It is great. I feel like I am in my backyard. This place is very familiar to me. It is a great opportunity," Davis said.
Does his time playing at Levi's give him an extra advantage?
"It is the Super Bowl. It doesn’t matter. The Super Bowl is the Super Bowl. It doesn’t matter where you are playing at. You have to take your game to the next level. High intensity. Try your best to make every play that comes your way," Davis said.
