ENGLEWOOD, Col. – The man behind the NFL’s best defense came away impressed with the man in charge of the 49ers’ offense after two days of joint practices.
Wade Phillips, the Denver Broncos’ defensive coordinator and winner of NFL assistant coach of the year last season, wrote on Twitter how impressed he was with 49ers coach Chip Kelly’s offense.
Phillips posted: “Chip Kelly does an amazing job with his offense. Without game planning and even with planning his offense can present a lot of problems.”

The 49ers and Broncos engaged in joint practices Wednesday and Thursday. The teams will meet Saturday night in the second exhibition game for both teams.
The Broncos rode their defense last season to the Super Bowl title, sacking Cam Newton six times in a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium.
