
Last year, the 49ers had the worst defense in the NFL.
They finished last in points allowed (30), yards allowed (406.4) and rush yards allowed (165.9).
"The past is there and you can't erase that, but you kind of want to move on," defensive lineman Arik Armstead said on KNBR 680. "It's a new regime here. New everything. A lot of new players.

"We want to remember that and remember what people think of us and try to change the narrative. But just move on from that and create a new look of our organization and especially our defense."
Last year's defensive coordinator -- Jim O'Neil -- is gone.

"He wants to put an attacking defense out there," Armstead said of Saleh. "Guys, who especially up front, are gonna get after it. I think he's an excellent coach.
"Very fiery, very energetic and he's a guy that you want to play for. I think he's gonna do great things for our defense and be the leader of our defense and put us in the position to make plays and help us be successful on the field."
Armstead appeared in just eight games last season before being placed on injured reserve.
He underwent left shoulder surgery on Nov. 15.
The 49ers selected Armstead with the 17th overall pick in the 2015 draft.
