Antonio Brown one of six wide receivers Saints work out before Week 17

Business is ... boomin'?

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton confirmed to reporters that former Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown was among six wideouts the team brought in for a workout Friday morning.

The most googled athlete of 2019, AB hasn't played since Week 2 after being released by the New England Patriots. Payton said the Saints would be reaching out to the league about whether if signed, Brown could play for New Orleans this postseason.

Drew Rosenhaus, Brown's agent, told ESPN's Adam Schefter the workout went well and that they will continue to talk to the Saints.

While the combination of AB and Michael Thomas -- who just broke the NFL's single-season receptions record for the Saints in Week 16 -- sounds lethal in theory, Brown isn't out of the woods yet with regards to being investigated by the league, as NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports.

New Orleans already has clinched a playoff spot, and could earn the NFC's No. 1 seed with a win, and losses by both the 49ers and the Green Bay Packers.

Payton and the Saints likely are just seeing how AB looks physically and mentally after what has been a bizarre stretch of off-the-field behavior.

AB clearly is enjoying his time in the Big Easy, as he caught up with New Orleans Pelicans forward and No. 1 overall NBA draft pick Zion Williamson.

If Payton is looking for references, the Raiders and the Patriots -- Brown's most recent employers -- likely won't have many great things to say after the controversial wideout forced his way out of Oakland and was released by the Patriots after text messages were leaked showing him harassing a woman who told Sports Illustrated Brown made unwanted sexual advances towards her while he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It remains to be seen whether Brown could be representing the "Who Dat" Nation in the 2019 playoffs, but this is just another step in what has been the most peculiar sagas in NFL history.
