Allen: Palmer should fit in new West Coast Offense

Still wondering, or worried, how Carson Palmer is going to fit into new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp's scheme?Dennis Allen isn't.Not even with Palmer a classic dropback quarterback, which might offend Knapp's West Coast offensive sensibilities. And vice-versa, no?
Um, no. At least, not according to Allen, who was asked today at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis if Palmer could fit into Knapp's system with the Raiders."I think absolutely he can fit," Allen said. "And I also think that part of what we do as coaches is we have a system that we're going to run, but we're going to try and put our players in the best position for them to be successful. We're not going to force-feed something if it doesn't fit what a guy does really well, we're not going to force-feed that."But I do think when you look at Carson Palmer, that he does have the same type of athleticism. He's as athletic as Matt Schaub, who (Knapp) had in Houston, to really beable to run that same package."And with Al Saunders being retained as a senior offensive assistant, he should be able to smooth out any transitions for Palmer, who will be entering his 10th year in the NFL.
