SANTA CLARA -– It’s difficult to gauge how the 49ers’ 24-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday might impact the future of the organization, but the CBS broadcast team might have gotten some insight from the possible future team president.
CBS sideline reporter Jay Feely, the former NFL kicker, said he spoke with Al Guido, the 49ers’ chief operating officer, before the game. Feely said he believes coach Jim Tomsula will return as head coach for a second season.
“I had a chance to talk to Al Guido, the COO for the 49ers beforehand,” Feely said on the broadcast. “They knew what they were getting into when they had all the defections. (He) said they underestimated a little bit the impact that it had in the locker room, specifically the lack of leadership. . . But I think they’re confident with Jim Tomsula going forward.”

When CSNBayArea.com asked 49ers CEO Jed York for his reaction after the game, York responded, “We’ll talk about everything at the end of the season.”
Guido appears the likely candidate to replace Paraag Marathe as 49ers president after the Super Bowl. Marathe will still be in charge of the 49ers' salary cap and contract negotiations, but he will be take over more of the 49ers' business ventures outside of football.
The 49ers (4-10) clinched last place in the NFC West for the first time since the 2005 season.

The Rams (6-8) lead the 49ers by two games for third place in the NFC West with two games to play. But the 49ers are locked into last place because the Rams are assured of having a better division record. After head-to-head, division record is the first tie-breaker. The Rams, who won the first meeting between the teams, close out the regular season on Jan. 3 at Levi’s Stadium.
