During the summer, when the NFL scheduled the 49ers and Packers for Monday Night Football, they were banking on Jimmy Garoppolo facing Aaron Rodgers. Well, the former is out for the season following surgery to repair a torn ACL and the latter is dealing with a less-severe knee injury.
With Garoppolo out, the 49ers (1-4) have fallen on hard times. They've lost three games in a row and will attempt to snap the skid Monday night. Last Sunday, C.J. Beathard threw for a career-high 349 yards against the Cardinals, but it wasn't enough to come away with the win.
As for Matt Breida, the 49ers running back is questionable for the game with a left ankle sprain. A decision on Breida's status for the prime time game should be made by 1pm PT on Monday.
