If you can believe it, we are just 10 days from the first NFL Sunday of the 2019 season. That means plopping down in front of your television at 1:25 p.m. PT to watch the 49ers take the field in a game that matters for the first time this calendar year against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But before we get to that glorious day, we have one more preseason rehearsal to knock off the list. The 49ers close out the 2019 preseason Thursday night at Levi’s Stadium as they play host to the Los Angeles Chargers.
There will be no starters taking the field tonight, however, as coach Kyle Shanahan will be keeping just about every critical player out of tonight's game. Players fighting for some of the final roster spots will primarily occupy the field, and many of them will find themselves out of a job come Saturday, when every NFL team has to cut more than 30 players to trim their roster down to the 53-man maximum.
