The 49ers' wide receivers corps took another hit Tuesday as veteran Travis Benjamin announced that he is opting out of the 2020 NFL season.
49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters Monday that he didn't know of any players on his team that were planning to opt out of the season, but clearly that changed a day later.

Benjamin's most productive seasons came over a three-year span from 2015-2017. He caught 68 passes for 966 yards with the Cleveland Browns in 2015. But he has seen his production drop off the last three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Benjamin missed most of the 2019 season due to a quadriceps injury that force the Chargers to place him on injured reserve.
With Marquise Goodwin traded to the Eagles, Deebo Samuel likely to miss the first few games of the season due to a Jones fracture in his foot and Richie James out with a fracture in his wrist, there was a chance Benjamin could have made the roster as the final receiver.
