49ers to fill two roster spots before Thursday Night Football vs. Raiders

The 49ers will make two roster moves to account for some of the issues the team has with its roster on a short game week.

All indications are the 49ers plan to promote rookie cornerback Emmanuel Moseley from the practice squad and activate outside linebacker Dekoda Watson off injured reserve before Thursday night’s game against the Raiders at Levi’s Stadium.

The 49ers created two open roster spots Monday when the team waived wide receiver Victor Bolden and cornerback Greg Mabin.

The 49ers also could activate rookie strong safety Marcell Harris for the game, coach Kyle Shanahan said this week.

The 49ers on Wednesday ruled out linebacker Reuben Foster (hamstring), and safeties Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) and Antone Exum (concussion) from playing against the Raiders.

Watson, a ninth-year pro, went on injured reserve Sept. 8 with a hamstring injury. He could see action Thursday at strongside linebacker with Malcolm Smith moving back to weakside linebacker to take Foster’s spot.

Moseley earned his promotion after strong showings in training camp and during the first nine weeks of the season on the practice squad. Moseley (5-foot-11, 184 pounds) originally signed with the 49ers in May as an undrafted rookie from Tennessee.
