SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers on Monday signed three players off their season-ending eight-player practice squad to contracts for the 2016 season.
The 49ers signed defensive linemen Kaleb Ramsey and Garrison Smith, and wide receiver DiAndre Campbell to reserve/future contracts. The team is likely to sign more players from the practice squad on Tuesday.
Those candidates who finished the season on the practice squad are quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, tight end Jamie Childers, tackle Donald Hawkins, outside linebacker Marcus Rush and defensive back Kyle Sebetic.
Ramsey is the only 49ers draft pick who finished the season on the team’s practice squad. Ramsey was a seventh-round pick of the 49ers in 2014. He sat out his rookie season due to an Achilles injury.
Ramsey was a member of the team’s practice squad this season but served a four-game suspension in November for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He returned to the 49ers’ practice squad upon his reinstatement.
