The 49ers are engaged in discussions to trade wide receiver Marquise Goodwin and have come close to trading him, general manager John Lynch said Monday.
Lynch was asked about a report from former NFL executive Michael Lombardi, who said the 49ers were actively shopping Goodwin, Dee Ford, Kwon Alexander and Jaquiski Tartt. Lynch suggested the only player the 49ers are actively shopping is Goodwin.
“Marquise is the one guy out of that group that you mentioned where there’s active discussions going on,” Lynch said on a video call with reporters. “The other guys, we love and are really looking forward to playing with moving forward.”

Goodwin, 29, appeared in nine games last season before going on injured reserve after being inactive for several games due to knee and foot issues. He caught 12 passes for 186 yards last season.
Goodwin is not expected to return to the 49ers, though Lynch left the door open to his possible return.
“There’s a scenario where Marquise can help us,” Lynch said. “He brings a lot to the table, so we have been in discussions. It came close a couple of times. There’s a lot of different aspects to being able to close these deals, and he’s a guy, because we know he has value, we continue to hang on and we’ll see if something happens here."

Lynch said it is possible that Goodwin could be traded this week around the NFL Draft.
“When there’s a deadline or something that causes it to happen,” Lynch said. “I think the draft is often one of those things.”
