Things just keep getting better for the 49ers.
They earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a Week 17 win over the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, and on Thursday kicker Robbie Gould was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

Gould had a December to remember. The 49ers kicker made all nine of his field-goal attempts, including game-winners against the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams. Without those two kicks, the 49ers would not be enjoying a playoff bye week, but instead would be preparing to go to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in the wild-card round.
With the award, Gould became the sixth kicker to win five POM awards.

Gould and the Niners will take the week to rest and prepare to face the lowest remaining seed that advances out of the first round of the playoffs.
