49ers' Richard Sherman empathizes with Kevin Durant's Achilles injury

There has been an outpouring of support for Kevin Durant in the aftermath of the Achilles injury he suffered in the Warriors' Game 5 win over the Raptors in the NBA Finals on Monday night. But due to the nature of the injury, most of that support is coming from people who have no idea what Durant is currently going through.

49ers cornerback Richard Sherman, however, can speak from experience.

Sherman, of course, ruptured his Achilles tendon in what ultimately amounted to his final game with the Seattle Seahawks. He signed with San Francisco in the ensuing offseason, and went on to appear in 14 games for the 49ers last season, often shutting down one side of the field.

Sherman was watching Game 5 of the best-of-seven series, and couldn't help but empathize with Durant both immediately following and the day after the Warriors' victory.

While the exact severity of Durant's injury isn't yet known, the way Sherman has bounced back to regain his form after suffering a similar injury has to offer Durant hope that he can do the same.

Durant has a long, hard road ahead of him, and it certainly can't hurt to have signs of encouragement posted along the way.
