Only two full seasons have passed since the 49ers and Baltimore Ravens met in Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3, 2013.
But enough time has passed for both teams to enact dramatic changes. The biggest change, of course, is that nobody will refer to Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium as the “Har-bowl.” While Jim Harbaugh is leading Michigan back to prominence in college football, new 49ers coach Jim Tomsula is struggling in his first season with a 1-4 record.
The Ravens, meanwhile, are also floundering with a 1-4 record, including Sunday’s overtime loss at home against the Cleveland Browns.

Seven 49ers starters from the Super Bowl, which Baltimore won 34-31, remain with the organization. An additional four players from that team have been elevated this season into starting roles.
In total, 12 players who were on the 49ers’ 53-man roster for the Super Bowl remain available to play in Sunday’s game.
The Ravens have undergone even more roster changes. Only four starters from the Super Bowl remain on John Harbaugh squad. After the Ravens signed quarterback Joe Flacco to a lucrative contract extension, they did not pay the money to retain wide receivers Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith, who now start for the 49ers.
Other notable starters from the Ravens' Super Bowl team have retired, such as linebacker Ray Lewis, safety Ed Reed and center Matt Birk.

"It was obvious for us why we have turned over so many people, where our roster was at the time," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday on a conference call with Bay Area reporters. "But it definitely is a major change from what it was just a short time ago that way."
The Ravens on Tuesday promoted cornerback Asa Jackson to the active roster, making 10 players who were available in the title game against the 49ers who remain on Baltimore’s 53-man roster.
