The 49ers placed DT Will Tukuafu on the injured reserve Tuesday and promoted safety Colin Jones to the active roster, the team announced via press release.
The team also signed WR John Matthews to the practice squad.
Tukuafu played in all four of the 49ers 2011 games, recording two tackles and a fumble recovery.
