CLEVELAND -– Running back Carlos Hyde played his final game of the season on Oct. 22, but his year officially came to an end on Saturday.
The 49ers placed Hyde on season-ending injured reserve with a stress fracture in his foot. The move was made to create a roster spot for tight end Brian Leonhardt, whom the 49ers promoted from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns,
Despite sitting out the past five games, Hyde remains the 49ers’ leading rusher on the season with 470 yards and three touchdowns. He sustained the fracture in the 49ers’ Oct. 11 game against the New York Giants and played in the next two games, rushing for a total of 95 yards on 32 attempts.
