ORLANDO, Fla. -- The 49ers on Tuesday placed linebacker Shayne Skov on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.
The 49ers promoted defensive back Marcus Ball from the practice squad to take Skov’s place on the 53-man roster. Ball is a second-year player from Memphis.
The 49ers signed Wynton McManis to the practice squad. McManis, an undrafted rookie from Memphis, spent training camp with the 49ers.

Skov sustained a right knee injury while covering a punt in the 49ers' 31-24 loss to the Dolphins. The injury is not believed to involve the anterior cruciate ligament and is not expected to require surgery.
