49ers offensive player-by-player review vs. Packers

The 49ers outgained the Green Bay Packers in total yards. More important, the 49ers held the ball for 33 of the game's 60 minutes.There was nobody more pleased with the efficiency of the 49ers' offense than 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio."Really, a lot of the credit goes to our offense for the way they moved the ball," Fangio said. "We couldn't afford for this game to be where they had 14 or 15 possessions."The Packers' offense had just 10 possessions. Both teams had the same number of possessions without any first downs (three) until the end of the game when the 49ers took two kneeldowns to run out the clock.Here's the player-by-player breakdown of the 49ers' offense from their 30-22 victory Sunday at Lambeau Field:Quarterbacks
3-Scott Tolzien: Was not active (coaches' decision).
7-Colin Kaepernick: Played one snap from scrimmage and dashed off 17 yards on a quarterback draw late in first half to put the team in position for David Akers' 63-yard field goal.
11-Alex Smith: Started and played all but one offensive snap in the game. He completed 20 of 26 pass attempts for 211 yards and two touchdowns for a passer rating of 125.6. Smith has now attempted a team-record 185 consecutive regular-season passes without throwing an interception, breaking Steve Young's record (184) set in 1993 . . . He was sacked four times and also ran three times for 15 yards before two kneeldowns to end the game.

Running backs
21-Frank Gore: Started and played 50 snaps. . . Gore carried 16 times for 112 yards and a touchdown. . . He took advantage of good push from the offensive line to plow between the tackles for yardage. And he also got some chunk yardage, accounting for three of the 49ers' eight-longest plays in the game. . . He Took on safety Morgan Burnett around the 5-yard-line and got into the end zone on 23-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.
23-LaMichael James: Was not active (coaches' decision).
24-Anthony Dixon: He did not play any snaps on offense, but contributed with 20 plays on special teams.
32-Kendall Hunter: He played 15 snaps on offense, entering on the second snap of the game. He contributed 41 yards rushing on nine carries.
45-Brandon Jacobs: Did not play (left knee).
49-Bruce Miller: He started at fullback and played a career-high 37 snaps. Last season, he played less than one-third of the team's offensive snaps. . . He made a good block on cornerback Tramon Williams to help Gore pick up 10 yards in second quarter. . . He missed safety Charles Woodson on a blitz for a third-quarter sack of Smith for minus-3 yards. . . . Made strong block on Williams to open way for Gore's 21-yard gain in third quarter. . . Got out front and made Woodson leap over him, which slowed him enough so that Gore could get around him on 23-yard TD run in fourth quarter. . . He caught a short dump off and turned it into a 15-yard gain.

10-Kyle Williams: He started and played 16 snaps on offense. Officially, did not see a pass go his way, but he helped the 49ers pick up a key first down at beginning of the second quarter. Williams drew a pass-interference penalty on cornerback Jarrett Bush on a third-and-3 to prolong an eventual touchdown drive. . . Outran linebacker Brad Jones to get to the outside and return a punt 20 yards before the end of the half to help set up Akers' long field goal.
15-Michael Crabtree: He played 45 snaps on offense. . . . His first two catches were not routine, as Smith did not put either one on the numbers. . . Working in the slot against linebacker Nick Perry, he shook free to pick up 16 yards on a slant in the second quarter. . . On a third-and-8, he shook Williams a yard short of the marker and picked up another 13 yards with a nice move. . . He was targeted nine times and caught seven passes for 76 yards.
17-A.J. Jenkins: He suited up for the game but did not play.
19-Ted Ginn: He was inactive (right ankle).
82-Mario Manningham: He played 29 snaps on offense. . . Carried ball too loosely and it was stripped out of his hand and out of bounds after a 4-yard reception in first quarter. . . He caught each of the four passes that went his way for 29 yards.
84-Randy Moss: He played 21 snaps, and caught four passes for 47 yards. . . Cornerback Jarrett Bush gave Moss big cushion off the line of scrimmage, which Moss used to run a comeback route for a 20-yard gain in first quarter. Found himself all alone on busted Packers coverage for 14-yard TD catch in second quarter. . . Ran a deep post that cleared the middle of the field and enabled Vernon Davis to be wide open for a 29-yard pass in the third quarter.

46-Delanie Walker: He played 34 snaps, but did not catch a pass. . . He was open on one third-down pass that Smith did not throw accurately . . . Had a dropped pass of a well-thrown pass late in the first half. . . Ran something that could've been construed as a pick on Bush to get Davis open for a 4-yard TD in the third quarter.
48-Garrett Celek: Was not active (coaches' decision).
83-Demarcus Dobbs: Did not play any snaps on offense.
85-Vernon Davis: He played 65 of the team's 67 recorded snaps on offense (including plays nullified by penalties). . . He caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. . . Pushed defensive end Phillip Merling down the field to help Gore pick up 10 yards in second quarter. On next play, he caught 10-yard pass at right sideline against Woodson. . . Woodson was called for holding Davis' jersey while on coverage on a second-quarter play. . . Caught 4-yard TD in third quarter, but missed his attempted dunk over the goal post to celebrate.Offensive line
59-Jonathan Goodwin: He started at center and played every snap. . . Got pushed back in one-on-one pass protection by B.J. Raji, forcing Smith to take off on scramble for 5-yard gain. . . He steered defensive lineman Jerel Worthy up the field, as Goodwin made him believe he was in pass-protection, and that allowed Kaepernick to break through on a 17-yard QB draw late in the first half. . . Got to sideline to run interference for Gore on 16-yard gain late in third quarter.
66-Joe Looney: Was not active (coaches' decision).
67-Daniel Kilgore: He entered as an extra blocker on five offensive plays. . . Made a very good block on Perry to help Gore get to the outside on his 23-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
68-Leonard Davis: He entered as an extra blocker for 12 plays. . . . Made his block on C.J. Wilson to help seal off the right side at the line of scrimmage on Gore's 23-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
74-Joe Staley: Started at left tackle and played every snap. . . He had a very difficult time against right outside linebacker Clay Matthews, who had a hand in three sacks while working against Staley. . . Got on his heels against Matthews on first third down of the game, and Matthews went low to get the sack of Smith for a 5-yard loss. Used good technique to hold his ground against Matthews on Smith's 14-yard TD pass to Moss. . . Did a good job of getting down the field and taking safety Morgan Burnett out of the picture on Hunter's 8-yard gain to the 1 in the third quarter. . . He had a lot more success as a run-blocker against Matthews. Good block on Matthews on Gore's 7-yard run around left side. . . Matthews beat Staley around edge to get a half-sack late in third quarter. . . On next play, Staley blocked Matthews and Gore turned up along the left sideline for 16-yard gain. . . Called for holding against Matthews early in the fourth quarter. . . Matthews beat him to the outside for a 7-yard sack with four minutes remaining.
75-Alex Boone: Started at right guard and played every snap. . . Made key block on linebacker D.J. Smith to enable Hunter to pick up 8 yards in first quarter. . . Pulled around right side and sealed off Ryan Pickett and D.J. Smith on Gore run play that went for 21 yards.

Woodson beat him for a half-sack late in third quarter.
77-Mike Iupati: Started at left guard and played every snap. . . .Didn't allow Merling to get anywhere near Gore on a 16-yard gain late in the third quarter. . . Gave up pressure to Matthews on third-and-5 pass that Smith completed for 3-yard gain. . . Pulled and ran interference on Hawk on Gore's 23-yard TD run in fourth quarter.
