The mystery was solved later in the evening, as Hertl took the ice for the Sharks’ 7:30 p.m. home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, about one hour before Mullens finished off the 49ers’ rout of the Raiders a few miles away at Levi's Stadium.
That’s too bad: Hertl could have been the Bay Area’s biggest two-sport star since Deion Sanders.
