49ers' Marquise Goodwin doubtful vs. Buccaneers due to personal matter

TAMPA, Fla. -- The 49ers likely will play Sunday without their top two wide receivers, as the club on Saturday downgraded Marquise Goodwin to “doubtful."

Goodwin made the trip with his 49ers teammates Friday to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But the 49ers excused Goodwin to address a personal matter back in the Bay Area.

Goodwin ranks second on the 49ers with 339 yards on 17 receptions this season. He leads the 49ers with four touchdown catches.

The 49ers on Friday ruled out wide receiver Pierre Garçon with a knee injury. Kendrick Bourne and rookie Dante Pettis are expected to play large roles for the 49ers on Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Also, the 49ers promoted running back Jeff Wilson from the practice squad to be available for Sunday’s game. Quarterback Tom Savage was waived to make room on the team’s roster for Wilson.

Wilson has spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad. The 49ers originally signed him as an undrafted rookie from North Texas.

Matt Breida, Alfred Morris and Matthew Dayes are the other running backs on the team’s 53-man roster.
