The 49ers lost a fourth player off their practice squad this season, as the Buffalo Bills signed rookie safety Jermaine Whitehead on Wednesday.
The 49ers originally signed Whitehead on May 5 after the former Auburn standout was not selected in the NFL draft. Whitehead was among the 49ers’ final cuts of training camp but was immediately re-signed to the team’s 10-member practice squad.
Other 49ers who were signed off the 49ers’ practice squad this season were offensive linemen Tanner Hawkinson (Philadelphia) and Brian Folkerts (St. Louis), and wide receiver Andrew Turzilli (Tennessee).

Also, running back Travaris Cadet, whom the 49ers waived on Tuesday, was claimed by the New Orleans Saints. The 49ers signed running back DuJuan Harris off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad to take Cadet’s spot on the roster. Cadet gained 16 yards on seven rushing attempts and added 66 yards receiving on seven catches in four games.
