After Shanahan agreed to become the 49ers' coach, he hand-picked Lynch to serve as the general manager. There have been no signs of acrimony or discord between the men, who often were seen socializing with their wives and other members of the organization at the NFL owners meeting last month in Arizona. There appeared to be no issues during the recently concluded NFL draft, either. Both Shanahan and Lynch spoke to the media together after each day of the draft.
49ers CEO Jed York recently said he has more faith in the Shanahan-Lynch pairing now than when they were hired together two years ago because of the way they continue to work well together, despite the team’s 10-22 record over that time.
York said last month at the NFL owners meeting he could not be more pleased with the chemistry that has continued to form between the men.

“I see that in spades,” York said. “It’s just awesome to watch those guys work together.
“I think it’s been interesting to watch these guys really come together and show they’re a stronger bond today than what they were two years ago, and it’s only getting stronger.”
