49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is the No. 43 ranked player in the NFL, according to his peers.

The NFL began releasing the "NFL Top 100" list on Sunday, and on Monday, they revealed players No. 70 through No. 41. The ranking is based on votes by NFL players.
Five quarterbacks were on the list before Garoppolo's name was called: Arizona Cardinals' Kyler Murray at No. 90, Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen at No. 87, Tennessee Titans' Ryan Tannehill at No. 68, Minnesota Vikings' Kirk Cousins at No. 58 and Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott at No. 46.
Twitter did not react well to Garoppolo being ranked ahead of Prescott.
Unfortunately for those Twitter users, the players got this one right.
Garoppolo is 21-5 as a starter in the NFL and helped guide the 49ers to Super Bowl LIV. Say what you want about the 49ers' defense being their ticket to the big game, but Garoppolo still had a really good season. He completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,978 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Yes, Prescott threw for nearly 1,000 more yards than Garoppolo in 2019, but with several elite offensive weapons flanking him, he was only able to lead the Cowboys to an 8-8 record. In big games throughout the season, Prescott couldn't lead Dallas to victory.
You could make an argument that both Garoppolo and Prescott are overhyped by their fan bases, but Prescott is hyped up by the national media. The fourth-round pick has won just one playoff game in four seasons. He's never been to a NFC Championship Game, let alone a Super Bowl.
In the NFL, the greatness of a quarterback is judged by Super Bowl wins. Garoppolo hasn't won one as a starter yet, but at least he got to the big game. Prescott hasn't gotten there yet.

If Garoppolo had hit Emmanuel Sanders on a deep strike against the Kansas City Chiefs, this probably isn't a debate. The 49ers would have been Super Bowl champs and Garoppolo likely is much higher on this list.
Fans and the media have been merciless in their critique of Garoppolo, but a majority of his teammates have come to his defense this offseason. They know he's the guy that can lead them back to the Super Bowl and help them win it.
Regular-season stats are nice, but until Prescott can make a deep playoff run, he shouldn't be ranked ahead of Garoppolo, and NFL players voted that way.
