February 8th, 2019 was a significant day for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. It was the year anniversary of the finalization of his long-term contract with the 49ers.

SIGN UP HERE Garoppolo commemorated the day on his Instagram account with a picture from his 2018 press conference sitting alongside both coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch. He had just agreed to a five-year $137.5 million dollar contract, keeping him in Santa Clara through the 2022 season.
Obviously, things did not go as planned in 2018 with Garoppolo landing on injured reserve after he tore his ACL in Week 3 in Kansas City. His recovery, however, is going according to plan, without any setbacks as Shanahan reported a few weeks ago when in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl.
Lynch also reported that he had recently looked out of his office window to see Garoppolo throwing a football to fellow ACL rehabber, running back Jerick McKinnon, who is also on schedule with his recovery.
Shanahan gave another update on KNBR recently reporting that he also saw Garoppolo running and throwing the football around.

"He looks good," Shanahan said. ”I'm not allowed to be working with him right now, but I was in the office a couple of days ago, and I was stalking him, watching him outside my window, and he actually surprised me. He was running around, throwing, doing some stuff out of the pocket.”
All of these reports are good news for 49ers fans who had high hopes for the 2018 season after the team closed out the previous season with a five-game win streak.

As usual, any social media post by 49ers player is commented on by fellow teammates and those under Garoppolo’s post are some of the best.
Tight End George Kittle claims to have sent a congratulatory text a year ago but not received a response. Same goes for receiver Marquise Goodwin. Tackle Mike McGlinchey simply proclaimed his affection for his quarterback.
