49ers' George Kittle explains biggest takeaway from ‘The Last Dance'

Almost every sports fan was mesmerized by the first two episodes of "The Last Dance," and George Kittle was no exception.

The 49ers tight end was locked into ESPN's Michael Jordan documentary, soaking up all the new insights he can gleam about the GOAT. To Kittle -- who didn't get to watch Jordan growing up -- one thing, in particular, stood out from the opening two hours.

"I just hope they drop the other eight episodes on Friday," Kittle said Tuesday on "SC with Scott Van Pelt." "His mindset was just different about everything. It was just so incredible. My tight ends coach Jon Embree is the biggest Michael Jordan truther, like no one comes close. Seeing this, I'm like, 'Hey, I get it.' I get why you're a fan and why you are such a believer that he's the GOAT. Everything that he's done proves that.

"Just the behind-the-scenes stuff, seeing what Jordan does day-in and day-out is just a pleasure because he was at the top of his game and he was the only one up there for a long time."

Jordan's desire to win at all costs and destroy his opponents while doing so fueled the six-time NBA champion throughout his storied NBA career. As voiced in the first episode of "The Last Dance," Jordan believed he and the Chicago Bulls should stay together and defend their championship belt until someone was good enough to knock them off.

Instead, general manager Jerry Krause made it clear the Bulls would be rebuilding following the 1997-98 season.

Jordan drug those Bulls to their third consecutive championship, and with Phil Jackson leaving and the departures of Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman coming, Jordan retired for the second time. He returned in 2001 to play for the Washington Wizards.

As for KIttle, the star tight end says he's keeping busy during the coronavirus quarantine. He's been working out in his garage, doing yoga, running and playing video games.

Like the rest of us, Kittle will be fired up for Sunday when the next two episodes of "The Last Dance" drop.
